The Gesualdo Six is delighted to present this new edition of William Byrd’s Mass for Five Voices to the public domain. We first performed the Mass for Five Voices in 2014 at our second concert, and have gone on to release a recording as well as develop a piece of immersive concert-theatre around it called ‘Secret Byrd’. We have lived and breathed this music as a group over many years, and this edition represents our collected knowledge and experience of this important masterpiece of the English Renaissance.
